Reconstruction and extension of Hauerova building of Silesian University in Opava

Extensions and reconstruction of University faculty on Hauerova street was created for Silesian University in Opava. Existing building is located along the Hauerova street near street Mírová and is protected as its lnside historical protection zone of Opava and was built in 70s of 19th century. Construction proposal modernizes existing building and incorporates it into a new functional whole.

Reconstruction of the main building was done more towards to its original appearance. Court façade was adjusted to satisfy new needs for new constructions and communication corridor. Northern extension extruding from existing building, was done due to need to extend capacity and is connected to historical building using corridor and simple volume of this object is supported on the ground floor using arcades opened towards quiet part of the court. Souther extension gives a space for facilities for book store. Both these extensions are shaped as simple volumes and have modern design. The whole concept assumes possible usage of the court for all kind of public or private events.
